Benefits:

Brake fluid is a hygroscopic fluid meaning it absorbs moisture using an alcohol base.  Once the alcohol has absorbed all the moisture it can, the boiling point of the brake fluid deteriorates and corrosion stars building up in the brake hydraulic system. 

Recommended service: Every 2 years.
