Heritage tomatoes are an unusual, old variety of tomatoes. Also called Heirloom tomatoes, they are usually fragile and do not store well. Because of this, they are rarely found in supermarkets. Rather, Heritage tomatoes are picked directly from the garden and taken fresh to a nearby kitchen or farmer's market. Heritage tomatoes are known for their old-fashioned ripe flavor and varied colors.
