About the Artist

John O'Brien was born in 1951 and was a skilled practitioner of contemporary romantic realism. His lush interiors and nostalgic street scenes have earned him solo shows in Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, and his work is on permanent display at the Phoenix Gallery in London.

O'Brien studied at the Art Students League in New York and taking style inspiration from the Impressionists, painstakingly researches the details of the scenes that he creates in his paintings. Aside from stylistic authenticity, these works offer up rich, saturated color and virtuosic brushwork that make O'Brien's art beacons of romanticism fused with modernity.

O'Brien passed away in 2004, at the age of 53.
