Back in 1971, go-go boots and all, the original 77 South was born. The name came from it's location, 77th and Troost, and from a private detective TV series called 77 Sunset Strip. This totally hip bar was chock full of red velvet, light up dance squares, and bell bottoms galore. What really got this lounge jumpin' back in the day were the ads that would run in the KC Star talking about their special events. So, after a 9 year run, Sleepy let ol' 77 go. Not a week would go by where someone wouldn't tell a story about all those crazy nights. So it only seemed appropriate that when this new opportunity presented itself, 77 South would be reborn as a modern, chic homage to a classic great time.
