A Complete Eye Examination at our office is a team effort. We use the latest technology to evaluate the performance of your vision system so that you can enjoy the clearest vision possible. In addition, the overall health of your eyes and vision system will be examined to detect any condition that would jeopardize your vision for tomorrow. A series of tests provided by our team will evaluate your overall function and eye health. We will be interested in any family or personal history of eye disease (cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, etc.) or systemic disease (high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, thyroid, etc.) that you are aware of.
Because the function and health of your eyes is so important to us, we recommend complete eye examinations at least every 1-2 years. Just because your vision is 20/20, this is no guarantee that other eye health conditions do not exist. Unlike the rest of our body, the eye rarely hurts when something serious is wrong. Macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic or hypertensive retinopathy are generally pain free, but can develop into sight threatening problems that can be life changing. Our goal is to detect these types of conditions before they have a chance to cause irreversible vision loss.
Typically eye exams include:
-Medical History
-Measurement of visual acuity
-Pupil dilation or Retinal photos
-Intraocular pressure (Glaucoma test)
-Peripheral vision test
-Analysis of vision system
-Diagnosis
-Prescription (lenses or medicine)
