Rich Thompson, #12, is one of the most popular players to have ever donned a Lehigh Valley IronPigs uniform and entered the 2012 season as the club's leader in numerous categories including stolen bases (127), runs (238), hits (425), and games played (439). Thompson, 33, excelled under Ryne Sandberg's tutelage in 2011, swiping a league-best 48 bases while scoring a league-high 81 runs. In fact, his 48 steals were the most by a Phillies Triple-A farmhand since Bob Dernier recorded 72 in 1981. At the end of last season, Thompson's 436 career stolen bases ranked third among all active Minor Leaguers.
