Description

One Night Stay - The Colonial Inn Gloucester

Includes a one night stay at the Colonial Inn.

A comfortable Inn ..... in a wonderful New England setting.

The Colonial Inn is an architecturally pleasing Georgian style house built in the 1850's which the Balestraci/Schmidt family has owned and operated for over 40 yrs.  The Inn is conveniently located in East Gloucester, Massachusetts on picturesque Cape Ann.

From our locale a two block stroll can take you to Niles Beach (numerous other beaches and coves are nearby), or to Rocky Neck, where you will find Rocky Neck Art Colony (the oldest active art colony in the country), the Marine Railways, where many a sea going vessel has been built and repaired.  And to satisfy your appetite for local fair and gourmet delights there are a number of sumptuous restaurants.  You can walk the docks and touch the fishing boats and get involved in the many other sights and sounds that this wonderful ocean side community has to offer.  Also in walking distance (2 blocks) is the Gloucester Stage Company, co-founded in 1979 by award-winning playwright Israel Horovitz.  Under his artistic direction the GSC  has produced numerous plays, more than 35 world premieres, 50 American premiers, and 75 New England premieres.  Visit the North Shore Art Association or Beauport Museum on Eastern Point or the Eastern Point Lighthouse where you can walk 1/2 mile out into Gloucester harbor on the granite dog bar/pier viewing the historic fishing community of Gloucester in one direction and the distant Boston skyline ( sixteen miles as the seagull flies) in the other.  Swim, fish or sail in our beautiful New England waters.  This is just a glimpse of what Gloucester has to offer.

Venture to downtown  Gloucester (2 miles) or to the other communities of Cape Ann, the Town of Rockport (4 miles) or to the towns of Essex and Manchester By The Sea, all within  minutes.

Come stay with us.  Relax and enjoy the ocean views, the ever changing panorama of our picturesque New England coast line,  Gloucester harbor  and colorful sunsets from our spacious ocean breeze swept porch.  Choose your activities, plan your days, and have fun.  We look forward to hearing from you.
