Description
This item is a case of wine, 12 bottles, from girl.dog.truck wines in Graton, California. This is a mixture of petite Sirah (2009), Cabernet Sauvignon (2009), and Roadtrip Red (2009).
The Wild Hog farm is approximately 110 acres that encompasses a large timber house and a 2000 square-foot winery, a three acre family garden and fruit orchard, and 5 acres of certified organic grape vines. The farm is dedicated to farming and gardening without the use of chemical additives, insecticides, or herbicides and has been certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers since 1981.
The winery is fueled throughout the year by solar and hydro power. The water comes from springs on the property. All organic matter remaining after the winemaking process is composted with manure and used to amend the soil on the farm. Wild Hog makes a dedicated effort to live and work with minimal impact on the environment, and to honor the land that sustains us.
says the girl:
Start with good fruit, handle it carefully, mess with it as little as possible. Wine is a unique expression of a constellation of variables, a particular geography of place, and season, and the choices made by all the people who handle the fruit. It is chemistry and process, but also alchemy and prayer. Each vintage is a one-time-only show. Let’s enjoy it while it lasts.
A Votre Sante.
girl. dog. truck. wines are sourced locally from family owned vineyards. I try to work with organic grapes, and in the cases that the grapes are not farmed organically, I work with folks that manage their vineyards with an eye toward sustainability.
The wines see between 11 and 18 months in American oak barrels before they meet the bottle. Some barrels have been infused with oak of various toasts through the use of oak beans from Hungary, France, and the United States. The wines complete malolactic fermentation. They are racked off the lees, blended, and bottled. All girl.dog.truck. wines are unrefined and unfiltered. The wines are made with a minimal amount of chemical and mechanical intervention.
The bottle glass is sourced from Modesto, California, rather than being imported from Mexico or China. The corks are harvested from sustainably farmed cork trees. The labels are printed on 80% (post-consumer) recycled paper.
