About the Artist
Jeffrey Kroll was born into artistic family; his mother, a working painter, introduced Kroll to art at an early age by taking him to museums and galleries. Kroll then attended the Philadelphia College of Art as well as studied in Florence and Athens, where he cultivated a passion for the classical tradition. Though he has a keen interest in Italy's Renaissance artists, his work is heavily influenced by Van Gogh, Picasso, Kandinsky, Klee, and Mondrian, which is clearly seen in his abstract, non-objective work. When Kroll paints, he builds layers of meaning and color on the canvas in what he called "fluid dimensionality."
Kroll has had exhibitions in major cities around the world, including a display at the Louvre in Paris as well as prominent galleries in New York, Los Angeles, Turin, Mexico City, and London. Consequently, Kroll's work is widely collected; actor Burt Lancaster and former Warner Brothers president Bill Gerber both own originals by Kroll. Currently, Kroll divides his time between Santa Monica, California and Stratford-upon-Avon.
