About George Zidek
Born in then-Czechoslovakia in 1973, Jiri 'George' Zidek became famous in the United State for playing professional basketball. Beginning his career with the UCLA Bruins in the 1994-1995 season – not coincidentally the same year they won the NCAA Championship – Zidek went on to play professionally in the NBA. Drafted by the Charlotte Hornets, he later played with the Denver Nuggets and the Seattle SuperSonics. In 1998, Zidek returned to Europe where he continued to play the sport. In the first year after his return to his home team, the Lithuanian Zalgiris, they won the Euroleague Championship. After taking off the 2005-2006 season to recuperate from knee surgery, Zidek decide to retire from playing professional basketball in 2006.
