Whether to wear or display (size XL), this depiction of our native Rio Grande Cutthroat is a beauty.  Artist David Gary Suazo, from the Taos Pueblo has combined his love of fishing, art and respect for his family members stricken by breast cancer to create a unique and fitting tribute.

David Gary Suazo lives and works at the Taos Pueblo.  He exhibits at the Evening Snow Comes Gallery at the Pueblo since 1987.  Of his work he says, “As a full blooded Taos Indian, I draw much of my inspiration from the experience of Indian life and the values of Taos Pueblo.  The colors of the landscape, the architectural beauty of the Pueblo, the horno (the Pueblo cooking oven) all symbolize the simplicity and quietness of Pueblo Life.  My objective is to express the true peacefulness in my art and to look back in the past, before modernization was introduced to Pueblo life.”  He works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, pen and ink, pastel and prints.  And in this case acrylic on fishing vest.

Mr. Suazo’s work is well known among southwest artists and collectors.  He has exhibited throughout the United States.
