If you never had to convince your Insurance agent that you had an item but have no receipt or boxes to prove it, believe me, it's not a pleasant experience. I wish I had VAS Home Inventory software when my home was burglarized. I personally use this software now, and highly recommend it. VAS Home Inventory allows you to catalog up to 1000 items in 12 (maybe 14) categories. It provides spaces for the standard name, address, city, state, zip, phone #, etc. In addition you can insert pictures and receipts for each item simply by dragging them and dropping in the provided windows. It automatically catalogs and files the pictures with your item. Version 4 also includes a graphic report that shows the dollar amount of each category as a percent of your total items. Did someone borrow your item? You can enter notes for each item. I like the 2 click backup and restore function that allows you to backup data to any drive that is attached to your computer, even network drives; and the easy search feature that quickly searches and displays all matches.
