Description

Have you been listening to Centennial Journeys on KUNM? Now you can have a copy of the whole series to take with you on your road trips or listen to curled up by a fire. Centennial Journeys is a series of over 200 two-minute programs to educate the public about interesting and often overlooked pieces of New Mexico’s history from the arrival of United States troops in 1846 to the present.

The series also includes famous New Mexican figures such as General Stephan Watts Kearny, Elfego Baca, Governor Charles Bent, Albert Fall and Pat Garrett along with historical events such as President Taft signing the enabling legislation for the state, the Pueblo Revolt, Pancho Villa’s raid on Columbus, N.M., the Taos Revolt of 1847, and the Long Walk of the Navajos.

The series is produced by the New Mexico Centennial Steering Committee with assistance from the Office of the State Historian and New Mexico Arts, a Division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and are produced at KUNM-FM Radio studios in Albuquerque, NM.
