Lyon & Healey produced mandolins with both American Conservatory and Washburn labels, in Chicago between the late 1800's and the 1920's. 

This neopolitan-style mandolin is from the late 1800's. It has a Brazilian rosewood bowlback and fretboard, spruce top, and a beautiful ivory-inlayed tortoise shell pickguard. 

The neck is straight and solid: there is no separation at all between the neck and body. There are two very small cracks in the fretboard, but they run lengthwise and are not deep enough to affect the playability. There are also two small cracks near the tailpiece end of the head. Again, they are not deep and do not impact playability. There are also a few light scratches, as shown.

This mandolin is well-preserved, considering it is more than 100 years old. The resonance from the old wood is amazing. 

Note: Vintage bowlbacks require very light gauge strings.
