Description

Discover the magic of San Bruno Mountain

Gail Mallimson will lead you on a hike in some of San Bruno Mountain’s most hidden places.  Did you know there are three endangered species on San Bruno Mountain and 22 rare species?  This hike will take you behind the scenes and off the beaten track, through native grasslands, oak forests, and onto a Native American shellmound thousands of years old.  All just a few minutes from San Francisco!

The hike will include lunch for up to 5 participants and a digital download of Gail’s film, “The Edge of the Wild” when the film is complete this summer.

Special Instructions

Gail is currently working on a documentary film, "The Edge of the Wild", about the struggle to save the endangered species on San Bruno Mountain, and will tell you about the history of the place and the dramatic efforts to save the mountain.  Gail’s husband, Elliot, a native plant specialist, will point out many of the rare native plants on the mountain.
