Hand carved by World Champion Carver, Merrill S. Timmins, this life-sized Downy Woodpecker is a work of art. Each of Mr. Timmins' birds are hand crafted from a block of Basswood or Tupelo and painted true-to-life.
Adult Downy Woodpeckers are the smallest of North America's woodpeckers. These birds are mostly permanent residents. Northern birds may migrate further south; birds in mountainous areas may move to lower elevations. Downy Woodpeckers roost in tree cavities in the winter.
