Description
Biomimicry 3.8 is offering a free registration to a three-hour online course, Introduction to Biomimicry, and a one-hour call with Dayna Baumeister to explore your "AskNature" question. You can take advantage of these from anywhere in the world.
Dr. Dayna Baumeister, founder and keystone of Biomimicry 3.8, will consult with you on how to bring nature’s design genius into your organization.
In addition, the interactive online course has been specifically developed for professionals, students, and others who have seen a talk or read an article, or somehow discovered biomimicry and who want to take the first step in understanding more about it to foster its spread or develop their own biomimicry practices. This course will be followed in 2013 by an Introduction to Biomimicry Thinking and an Introduction to Life’s Principles to complete the Foundations of Biomimicry series.
Through visually engaging audio, video, photos, and illustrations, Dayna and other practicing biomimics provide in-depth analysis of real world examples of biomimicry and offer tips on how to put biomimicry tools to work in most any discipline.
hrough this course, you will gain a fresh new perspective on how the world around you can, does, and should work.
The early feedback is coming in that this is an incredible amount of inspiration packed into two hours. Here’s one participant’s feedback:
I wanted to drop you a note to let you know how blown away I am by the Introduction to Biomimicry foundational course. You’ve produced an amazing teaching tool that not only presents a TON of material but does so in an intuitive and aesthetically pleasing fashion. As one who regularly strives to expand and develop my own internal encyclopedia, I found the course not only clear and concise but a perfect tool for understanding the rudiments, something I try to do in every one of my endeavors so as not to lose sight of my feet.
I’ve even been sharing it with my 10-year-old and he loves it — the next (and hopefully expanded) generation of mimics!
Dr. Dayna Baumeister’s fascination with the natural world began with daily forays into the woods and mountains of Colorado, her childhood home. As an adult, nature has continued to inform her personal and professional endeavors. Dayna received a BS in marine biology from New College in Sarasota, Florida. After several years exploring the intricate relationships of coral reefs, she turned in her wetsuit and headed back to the mountains. She earned an MS in resource conservation and a PhD in organismic biology and ecology from the University of Montana in Missoula, specializing in the dynamics of positive interactions among animal and plant life.
With a background in biology, a devotion to applied natural history, and a passion for sharing the wonders of nature with others, Dayna has worked in the field of biomimicry with business partner Janine Benyus since 1998 as a business catalyst, educator, researcher, and design consultant. Together they founded the Biomimicry Guild consulting practice, The Biomimicry Institute 501c3, and most recently, Biomimicry 3.8, a B-Corp social enterprise that trains, certifies, and connects biomimicry professionals worldwide.
