Pastiche

A World of Beautiful Colors comes alive as players choose commission cards picturing 34 of the finest European art works of the past six centuries. Players score their commissions by mixing primary colors through clever tile placement, and recreating the palette of colors used by the masters. Explore the paintings, palettes and pasts of the artists in this unique and challenging family game.

While placing hexagonal pieces to gain palette (color) cards, players learn the different color combinations that produce the many hues of an artist’s palette... all listed on the Player Reference Card. Players also learn to recognize many great artists and their works as they complete commissions.

“Pastiche…is stripped down to the core of art creation: get colors, mix colors, paint. The game comes across as both highly abstract and deeply thematic.” ~~ Eric Martin on BGG News

“The game components in Pastiche are amazing. Great quality from the famous art works on the canvas cards, to the rest of the game.” ~~ ghostbusterbob on BGG.com

“Pastiche helps enhance art appreciation… you get to enjoy and admire some great paintings while you're playing! It’s elegant, it's beautiful, and it works!” ~~Ender Wiggins on BGG.com

"Pastiche is a winner of the Mensa Mind Games competition"
This information about the MENSA Select Award is presented from the MENSA website. www.mindgames.us.mensa.org

The Mensa Mind Games® competition provides an opportunity for game manufacturers to compete in one of the most respected and recognizable national games competitions, while having their games reviewed by some of the nation's most avid game-players — members of American Mensa. Each year, 200 Mensan participants, or "judges," play and critique games released in the past year and award the coveted Mensa Select® seal to the top five vote-getters.

Bazaar

Through skillful trading and re-trading, each player attempts to gain the right combination of colored stones from the Bank to purchase the wares displayed in the Bazaar. Values of the various wares are determined by the number of stones the purchaser holds following his transaction. Trading is governed by the current rates posted at the Exchange. When all the wares from two of the stalls have been sold, the Bazaar is closed, the game ends and the player with the highest score wins!

 review:

"Sid Sackson is one of the most respected game designers to have emerged in the late 20th century.  His game Bazaar first appeared in 1967, and is a popular design that has been out of print for some time. This brand new edition has a new look worthy of its respected status.

Players get coloured glass stones, trading them according to the rates of exchange listed on two exchange cards, trying to get combinations to match one of the face up ware cards. The fewer stones you have left over after cashing them in for such a card, the more points you earn.  Rewarding efficient trading is a simple concept that makes the game easy to learn, and works well with people of all ages, including children, yet remains a pleasant challenge for adults as well.

Bazaar is an elegant and beautiful that has stood the test of time, and has potential to appeal to almost everyone.  This fresh new edition does a wonderful job of bringing a beautiful game to today's audiences"
