Description
The Battleship New Jersey is located on the Camden Waterfront in New Jersey next to the Adventure Aquarium and the Susquehanna Bank Center. The Camden Waterfront is directly across the Delaware River from Center City Philadelphia.
the tour takes visitors around the upper and lower sections of the Battleship complete with displays and a multi-media room for any disabled visitors.
Tours cover many areas, including the Bridge, the crew’s mess, the communication’s room and the big 16” guns. Exhibits include “New Jerseyans on the Big J”, “A Sailor’s Life”, “Keepers of the Sea” and more.
We have three different tours: docent-assisted, self-guided and the docent guided Firepower tour, which highlights the ship's weapons systems. Docent assisted tours take approximately two hours from start to finish. Self-guided tours allow you to set your own pace, following a clearly marked tour route.
Special Instructions
The tours of the Battleship New Jersey are interactive. You will be going up and down on ladders, stepping through passageways and sometimes maneuvering in tight spaces - just like the officers and the crew of the USS New Jersey did. We strongly recommend you wear comfortable flat shoes. If you do not feel comfortable with a complete tour, you can enjoy a main deck tour, which does not have any ladders. We also offer video tours of the Battleship in the Wardroom Lounge on the Main Deck. If you are bringing a toddler or baby, you cannot bring a stroller aboard the ship. We recommend that you wear a baby carry-on across your front to carry babies aboard.
