This is a key winning....Professor Spencer is the recipient of several ongoing grants from the NY Council on the Humanities. She gives salon-style concerts and lectures on some of the greatest classical composers. Her areas of expertise include Chopin, Brahms, and Mendelssohn. The event can be held in a home with a good grand piano or Ms. Spencer's home, and can include selections by a few composers or a focus on one.


Ruth Albert Spencer, a native New Yorker, is a graduate of the Mannes College of Music and did her graduate studies at Queens College (CUNY.) She is on the Music Department faculties of the City University of New York and the 92nd Street Y. Professor Spencer has given lecture-recitals on the relationship of Chopin and George Sand at numerous colleges, libraries and cultural institutions. She has published two Music Education books, as well as many articles on the music of Chopin, John Lennon and "the Band."
