This makeup was first developed in a medical setting by Pauline Youngblood Soli and was specifically designed as a camouflage cover for patients recovering from medical procedures; facial surgeries, radiation therapy, laser treatments, and chemical peels. Pauline's patients experienced such dramatic success camouflaging that they continued using her formula long after their skin had healed to cover blemishes from acne, redness from rosacea and discolorations from pigmentation changes.

Pauline then began working with chemists to develop a suitable option - a cosmetic that would cover raw, inflamed, or discolored skin, but allow it to breathe and heal better. This led to her initial work with natural mineral cosmetics.
