Description
How fabulous would this look hanging in your home or office?! This colorful, signed print by local Hawaii artist, Cindy Coats will fit any decor and is sure to draw comments of envy from those who view it.
"I feel so fortunate to live in Kailua Kona. There are so many things that make this former little fishing village the special place that it is. This is the way I see Kona. The waves splashing the sea wall, the first "Grander" of the season ( a thousand pound marlin), the Hulihe'e palace, which was the vacation residence of Hawaiian Royalty, and Mokuaikaua Church. It was the first church in the islands, formed in 1820 and built in 1836. Behind town I have dormant volcano Hualalai with Kilauea to the south and a snow capped Mauna Kea to the north. I have also included Kona coffee trees, coconut palms, papaya trees, African Tulips trees and all the other beautiful plants and flowers that make up the colorful palette I call home."
This print is 16" x 20" and comes double matted in black.
About the Artist
For as long as I can remember, I've loved to draw. Growing up in New Mexico, I was surrounded by the rich landscape and unique culture of the Southwest. I believe the combination of the two helped to develop my deep appreciation of color.
After receiving my formal art training at the Colorado Institute of Art, I returned to Albuquerque and founded my studio "Laughing At The Moon."
Growing up in the southwest, the most exotic thing I could imagine was living on an island in the middle of the Pacific. In 1996, we made that fantasy a reality and moved to Kona.
I work in many different mediums from pencil and ink on watercolor paper to oils to acrylic and gouache on masonite. I believe different concepts lend themselves to different techniques. My hand colored giclee prints are an example of this. These three dimensional creations use a variety of mediums and techniques to achieve their distinctive look.
I have been fortunate to have been involved in many interesting projects over the years. One of my favorites was when I was commissioned by Pepsi to create commemorative pieces for all the musical artists that preformed at Denver's Pepsi Center. Recipients included Carlos Santana, U2, The Dixie Chicks, and many more.
It is very rewarding and exciting to know my art is hanging in homes and offices all around the world.
Thank you for your interest and support.
