Description

During my November visit to Kathmandu, I was hoping to find something wonderful and suitable to donate to the Maitripa auction. I knew that the family of a friend had a shop in the city, but how was I to find it in that crowded place with narrow, curved, and unnamed streets? Thanks to the interconnectedness of the very amiable Nepali community, I was guided to that shop where I found this most elegant, nine-pronged, dorje and bell.

This is a fine example of the famous metal work of Nepal and intended for ritual use by the earnest practitioner.

Dorje and bell are golden brass.  Dorjes are aligned in relief around the circumference of the bell. On the bell's upper surface are the five Buddhas, the Sanskrit letters, OM, AH, HUM, and the auspicious symbols of the conch, wheel, vajra, and crossed vajra. The bell is surmounted with a golden 9 prong dorje.

Bell: Height: 7" Diameter: 4.75"

Dorje: Length: 4.75"
