Alta Cruz Pottery is located in the shadow of the Sandia Mountains, next to the Rio Grande. Sandra Garcia throws clay on the wheel, then hand carves and stains the band of natural clay with designs that have been used in the Southwest for thousands of years. The pots are then dipped in glaze and fired to 2300 degrees Fahrenheit, which makes them durable enough for the dishwasher and oven.
