Description
"Culver Tower Sign", at the Kirk Douglas Theatre is a Culver City landmark.
"Originally the building was The Culver Theatre. It opened on August 13, 1946 with a seating capacity of 1,091. The Culver Theatre was located near the Columbia Pictures studio lot (then the lot for MGM). Originally, much like surrounding downtown Culver City, the Culver Theatre was a key part of classic Hollywood's thriving entertainment community.Today, after an extensive restoration, the Culver Theatre, now renamed the Kirk Douglas Theatre, is operated by the Center Theatre Group as a performing arts center and playhouse.
