Christian Gallegos, Know thy Neighbor, mixed media, 24x24
In this painting, my neighbor and dog are depicted in her kitchen- I sketched it in my book one day and thought I should paint it. I used my technique of layering and editing in a design using a figurative approach that is not as abstract as my other work. This concept is also a progression and one I will be tinkering with in my drawings.

Christian Gallegos is a contemporary abstract artist who has spent his life between the worlds of the Southwest (New Mexico and Arizona) Christian's style combines contemporary designs in a unique idiosyncratic form shown throughout his works. His early graffiti works have resurfaced in bold line and shape patterns and his many hours of flying as a child have added a 35,000 foot perspective. His work as a musician fosters an improvisational approach that uses an initial melody-like line and then follows the images that arise on the canvas.
