Description
Practice those hoops with this basketball camp for either boys or girls at Marin Catholic. Two sessions to choose from (date not yet determined). This camp is usually a four day camp from 9-3 p.m.
Available for grades 3-9.
Boys camp run by Mike Saia. He just completed his second season as the Varsity Men’s Basketball Head Coach at Marin Catholic, winning over twenty games both seasons. He is a graduate of Drake High School (2-time 1st Team All-League). He played one year at College of Marin, and three years at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, graduating with a B.S. degree in agriculture management. He has developed a basketball philosophy from years of playing, coaching, and officiating. Mike was a NCAA Division I basketball official from 1991-1999, finishing his career with two trips to the NCAA tournament. He has been a local AAU and CYO coach/Athletic Director at St. Anthony’s in Novato.
Girls coach Rick DeMartini has been the Marin Catholic Varsity Women’s Basketball Head Coach for over 20 years, leading the Ladycats to one State Championship, three NorCal Finals, and three North Coast Section Championships. He has a combined total of 17 MCAL League and Playoff Championships. His teams have been to 19 straight MCAL playoffs and 18 NCS playoffs. Rick was voted the 2002 California Division 4 Coach of the Year and the 2003 NCS Honor Coach of the Year. He was inducted into the Marin County Hall of Fame in 2006, and the Sacred Heart Hall of Fame in 2010. Thirteen of his players have gone on to play Division 1 College Basketball. Rick currently has over 440 career victories and has recorded 20 or more wins in 16 of his 21 seasons at MC. His teams have been ranked as high as #14 in the Nation by USA Today, and #1 in the Bay Area by Cal-Hi Sports and the S.F. Chronicle.
