Mask design by Michelle Williams

Michelle Williams' passion is in textile arts. She is intrigued and drawn to texture. The contrast between various textures and the patterns created by them stimulates her imagination. Contrast between large and small, faceted and smooth and the resulting images are some of the elements that drew her to her current beaded work. She gathers her inspiration from African and other primitive sculptures.

Her work evolves over time and reflects the innermost part of herself. Her process involves combining various colors, textures, and patterns that develop as she works. She is concerned with inner emotions and feelings. The thickly encrusted surface of her work reflects the many layers to each of us and the complicated nature of life and human beings. The tiny details often overlooked are important to her. Her pieces become something beautiful and detailed. Her work inspires others to look closely.
