Paul Konerko is the Chicago White Sox Team Captain. He was named Captain in 2006, after helping the Sox win the 2005 World Series—the franchise’s first since 1917. He has played first baseman for the Sox since 1999. He previously played with the Los Angeles Dodgers (1997–98) and the Cincinnati Reds (1998).

As an avid Chicago sports fan it was a thrill for him to get the opportunity to create pieces based on The White Sox and Bears. He wanted to make them vibrant while giving them some of the character of the celebrity.
