Description
Celtic Woman is an immensely popular, internationally touring all-female Irish musical ensemble, that has sold over 6 million albums world wide. Conceived and assembled by Sharon Browne and David Downes, a former musical director of the Irish stage show Riverdance, Celtic Woman is often called “Riverdance for the Voice.”
The original group was recruited In 2004: five Irish female musicians who had not previously performed together: vocalists. Their hits are a repertoire that ranges from traditional Celtic tunes to modern songs. Their first album, Celtic Woman, reached #1 on Billboard's World Music chart in 2006 and broke the longevity record by remaining on top for 68 weeks. Five other albums have been released under the name "Celtic Woman." Their PBS performance specials have introduced this talented group to millions more fans worldwide. Celtic Woman’s current members are described as: “Chloe Agnew is hip, Méav Ni Mhaolchatha is rational, Orla Fallon is angelic and Mairead Nesbitt is energetic."
