About Berkshire Hills:
Berkshire Hills is a coed, Jewish sleep away camp for children ages 7-16. While our program is designed to reflect Jewish values, we welcome all children to camp and believe that the values we teach – respect, giving back, community, and charity – benefit everyone.
Set in the beautiful Berkshires, our camp provides an idyllic setting for your child’s summer of growth and fun. At Berkshire Hills, your child will find a strong community of friends, be supported by loyal and deeply committed staff, try fun and challenging activities, and become more independent. Whether you are looking for a two week session or a full summer experience, Berkshire Hills has options to fit every family’s summer schedule.
Program:
Each day is designed to give your child time to grow both individually, and as a member of our camp community and family.
Morning Electives
Berkshire Hills morning electives give your child the opportunity to build a skill over time by participating in the same activity every other day for two weeks. Our qualified instructors will help your child learn a new skill or build on a skill in an activity they already enjoy. Whether your child chooses drama, basketball, ropes course, boating, arts and crafts, floor hockey or any one of our other dozens of activities, our staff will teach your child the activity and promote the idea that practice leads to improvement in anything they do.
Afternoon Cabin Activities
Afternoon activities at Berkshire Hills focus on building the cabin group. Each cabin will spend the afternoon enjoying a diverse selection of activities, each intentionally selected and designed to build friendships, bring the group closer together, and help campers take healthy risks.
Evenings at Camp
The fun never stops at camp. Evenings are a mix of cabin, unit and all camp programming. Singing by a campfire, playing Capture the Flag, watching the Camp Show or working on a project at Arts and Crafts are just a few activities your child might enjoy after dinner.
Values:
Our top priority is to create a safe, supportive and loving environment for every child and our Berkshire Hills campers thrive as a result. At Berkshire Hills, we use the lens of Jewish teaching and the experience of group living to build a strong community that reflects traditional Jewish values. While we use Jewish language to talk about these values, we believe strongly that every child – regardless of their religion or background – benefits from learning about Integrity (Yosher), Respect (Kavod), Repairing the World (Tikun Olam), Joy (Simcha), Acts of Loving Kindness (GemiluteChasadim), Nature (Teva), Spirit (Ruach), and Connection to Friends (Divikute Chaverim). Therefore, we welcome all children – Jewish and non-Jewish with open arms.
Like all learning at camp, these values are not taught in a classroom - but on the ball field, in a dance class, and around campfires. In this way, campers not only learn about these values – they live them.
