Description

Sarah Lowder, PhD('92), economist, Food and Agricultural Organization, Rome, Italy will set you and your friends/family up on a spectacular guided tour of Rome with a professional guide.   What part of Rome you ask?  That is yet to be determined by you, but sure to be fabulous!  You will most definitely see the less known, non-touristy historic part of Rome.  Then, if you are so inclined, and since you are in Rome on an adventure anyway, you should be (and well, when in Rome…) Sarah will take you to an authentic local pizzeria for dinner, Dutch treat please, in Garbatella, an area Mussolini built as “upscale” subsidized housing.  The buildings look like they are from the 18th century or earlier.  Mussolini’s idea of a "worker's paradise" for those who were restoring the Via Fori Imperiali. To this day, it's remained very Italian as the houses have been passed down through the generations - few families have moved out of the area. Folks say it’s what Trastevere used to be like in terms of showing you Authentic Rome!  Buon divertimento!
