Help Seeing Eye Puppy Raisers Pursue Their Dreams
Item Number: V509

Description
Each year, The Seeing Eye awards a number of scholarships to high school seniors who have raised at least two puppies, including one in their junior or senior year. The scholarship recognizes the teens' contributions to The Seeing Eye, and encourages older teens to remain in the program and serve as mentors to younger puppy raisers. Many of these students go on to service careers, including medicine, education, and other helping professions.
The love and dedication these high school students devote to puppy raising is inspiring. Your donation will help us recognize the important work our puppy raisers do to help our very special puppies grow to become special guides.
At the same time, you can honor someone who has made a difference in your life. Your support of a puppy raiser scholarship enables you to name that scholarship in memory of or tribute to someone special. You will also be able to attend a special award ceremony on July 19th where you can meet your scholarship winner and tour the main building on our campus. Scholarships are also announced in The Seeing Eye's Guide magazine distributed to over 50,000 supporters.

Quotes From Essays Submitted by 2013 Scholarship Applicants
“I learned how to be determined. I had to learn that progress takes time, so I needed to focus on each short term goal in order
to reach the big goal in the future.”
“Other lessons that were learned were the battles between the head and the heart. For example, loving and caring for a dog when
I did not feel like it and following rules even when it was not convenient for me. Putting my emotions aside and doing
what is right has been a valuable lesson in all aspects of my life.”
“The adversity I faced raising each of my Seeing Eye puppies only made me more determined to work harder with the next. The satisfaction I receive every time I help better someone else’s life
has inspired me to pursue a career with the same goal in mind.”
