Ponder was selected 12th overall by the Vikings in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He made his NFL debut against the Chicago Bears in the fourth quarter on October 16, 2011 and he made his first start a week later against the Green Bay Packers. Ponder finished the season throwing 13 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions. In the 2012 season through his first five games, Christian Ponder threw for 7 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. He led the Vikings to the playoffs with 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
