Description
Tour the Gold Coast and learn how seven society ladies of the neighborhood first defined Parisian shopping, then how they thrilled their admirers at the Chicago Columbian Exposition of 1893, at the Century of Progress 1933-34, and at other glittering occasions with their sense of style and hospitality. Their legacy, over the course of half a century, remains with us today through the Art Institute of Chicago, Hull House, The Junior League of Chicago and the world of journalism. Join Sally Kalmbach for a new and unique Gold Coast walking tour including a visit to a house that was the setting of a socialite's 1914 wedding reception. Through rare photographs and vintage fashion magazines, Sally will illustrate how all eyes were on these Gold Coast society women as they made their imprint on the city of Chicago . Please meet Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 10:00 am in the Gold Coast for a 1.5 hour tour. The tour will end with a delicious Spring luncheon at The Palmolive hosted by Katie Haggerty and Beth Kost. Sign up fast, this exclusive access to history is sure to go fast. Limited to 20 people. $50 per person.
