Description

"Alice & Jack"  Original watercolor painting by artist Ron Daley. Ron Daley has been painting in watercolor for the past fifteen plus years. He is a studio painter and relies on his camera, sketches and notes. Mostly he uses 140lb watercolor paper, soaked and stretched. He uses an assortment of art brushes and even cheap household brushes.

"Spare no idea to achieve the end result", he says. He uses Winsor Newton and Ultrech paints. He loves all colors. Ron believes anyone can paint and paint well if they have the desire. He knows enough about watercolor to know that it is always about learning and doing more and arriving at new plateaus along the way. That is why it will always be an exhilarating and confoundedly unpredictable adventure.

Ron’s work is representational in style. He enjoys painting everyday life of Humboldt County. He says, “those who live on the north coast know they live in a special place; blessed with an abundance of natural resources. It is a treasure chest for the artist. The clouds, the people, the farms, the coastline, the lakes, the rivers, the redwoods and the fishing fleet, its all here.

Ron says that he doesn’t have a good definition of why he paints, other than it is in him to do so. He feels joy and connection when he is painting.
