2009 JL Wolf Wachenheimer Riesling & 2010 Poet’s Leap Riesling

1 bottle of each

About JL Wolf: Founded in 1756, The J.L. Wolf estate was a very successful and highly regarded winery for more than two centuries. Ernst Loosen, of the Dr. Loosen estate, took over the vineyards in 1996, launching a dramatic turnaround in the estate’s quality and reputation. Inspired by the greatest wines of Germany and crafted by one of Germany's most highly acclaimed Riesling producers, Armin Diel, proprietor of the renowned Schlossgut Diel.

About Poet’s Leap: After twenty years at the helm of the Stimson Lane wine group (Chateau Ste. Michelle, Columbia Crest and other wineries), Allen Shoup retired to pursue a personal dream. For years he had envisioned a joint venture with highly acclaimed winemakers from different regions of the world. His goal was to bring their expertise to Washington to create some of the most special wines ever crafted from the region’s top vineyards; wines that would stand shoulder to shoulder with the world’s best.

Description JL Wolf: The Wachenheimer Riesling from J.L. Wolf reflects the unique characteristics of the sandy loam soil and warm, dry climate of the village of Wachenheim. It is an excellent value in full- flavored, balanced Pfalz Riesling. The 2009 Wachenheimer shows the fruit purity and concentration of the vintage. It is quite harmonious, with good depth, a fine, edgey focus and a firm peach-pit grip on the mid-palate.

Description Poet’s Leap: Fresh and pure, this off dry Riesling is loaded with expressive aromatics and flavors of ripe pear, white nectarine, apricot and wet stone minerality. A welcoming richness and vibrant mouth feel, led by the wine's lemon-lime acidity, delivers a clean and lengthy finish.
