On March 9, 2013, Kids First at Sunset View, a 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation, will host its 16th Annual Dinner-Dance-Auction to raise funds for Sunset View Elementary School, a public school in the Point Loma neighborhood of San Diego. We need event sponsors and donations of auction items to raise money for the school. Kids First would like to show its appreciation to your business with recognition at the event, on the Kids First website, or in printed or online communications such as our new online auction site. The hundreds of Sunset View families and friends that treasure this school are fiercely loyal to those businesses that partner with them. The San Diego Unified School District is in crisis. However, Sunset View Elementary has countered this tide of budget cuts because of its uniquely successful partnership between educators, parents, and the community. The funds we raise at our Dinner- Dance-Auction immediately work to improve the education of our students, which include both neighborhood and inner city children. Your contribution supports numerous programs, which the school district does not fund, such as: - Additional teachers (to reduce class sizes) and teacher aides to provide more direct instruction time to young learners - Visual and performing arts programs to bring culture to life at the earliest ages - Computer lab instructor and science and technology enhancements to prepare children for the 21st century - Library books and reading tutoring to develop a lifelong love of reading We hope we can count on your support to help Sunset View Elementary continue its 60-year tradition of excellence in public education.
