The Allentown Art Museum has undergone an expansion and modernization project and re-opened to the public in October 2011. The newly expanded 48,900 sq. ft. facility showcases a growing collection of nearly 14,000 works of art of international importance including the Kress Collection of European Renaissance and Baroque art. The collections allow visitors to experience a broad spectrum of art representing diverse media, materials, and techniques from an equally diverse range of countries and cultures.
On February 3, we will open three shows based on private collections from the Lehigh Valley:
Fabulous Flappers: Fashion from the Ellie Laubner Collection
Haitian Art from The Rodale Family Collection
The Lerner Contemporary Glass Collection
And in the summer of 2013, Toulouse-Lautrec and His World will travel from the Herakleidon Museum in Greece to the Allentown Art Museum, showcasing approximately 100 original works on paper by French impressionist Henri Toulouse-Lautrec.
