Description

It's time to see a legend retire so don't miss out on seeing George Strait while he is in Houston for his farewell tour - The Cowboy Rides Away.

Four tickets to the Sunday, March 17, 2013 George Strait concert at the Houston Rodeo are included with this package, as well as a limo reserved for your use that night!

George Strait was born on May 18, 1952 in Poteet, Texas and grew up in Pearsall, Texas.  Influenced by country singers Merle Haggard, George Jones, Bob Wills and Hank Williams, Strait made his way to Nashville, Tennessee in 1981 and signed with MCA, beginning a music career that as of early 2005 has had 51 #1 country singles and the career record for Country Music Association nominations with seventy-three.  He was one of the best-selling country singers of the 1980s, with hits like "Unwound", " Ocean Front Property " and "Fool Hearted Memory" to name a few.  George Strait drew from both the honky tonk and Western swing traditions, staying close to traditional country, able to survive the invasion of pop-country singers like Garth Brooks in the 1990's and in doing so, became one of the most famous and influential singers of the decade.  Other classic albums include, Somewhere Down in Texas (June 28, 2005), Honkytonkville (2003), Blue Clear Sky (1996), Easy Come, Easy Go (1993) and Pure Country (1992), which also was the name of the movie starring George Strait.

This is a Live Event Item.
