SFRP's Music Director, teacher and all-around great guy, Shark, will take one lucky student to a show at Berkeley institution, Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse. Take a trip over the bridge to the laid back music scene across the Bay. Sip cocoa, nibble brownies and relax into the cool Berkeley groove.

The Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse is a nonprofit community arts organization dedicated to promoting public awareness and understanding of traditional music. The Freight continues to be a special gathering place for those of us who enjoy exploring the richness of traditional music. Look at the calendar for any month; see how many different performers play here – each one drawing from musical traditions that have inspired musicians for years. It’s exciting to see younger artists going back again and again to these same sources for inspiration, adding a whole new interpretation that builds on, and celebrates that tradition. Here at the Freight, the power of that kind of inspiration resonates as strongly as ever.
