Description

Silk dying workshop led by amateur silk dyer and class teacher, Ms. Kitty Groom.  Participants will explore modified Shibori technique, a Japanese method of tying, folding and sewing fabric to create resist.  We will use underdying and a broad palette of cold water dyes to create surprise effects from the best laid plans.  We will also experiment with rust transfer to achieve remarkably beautiful effects.  Create a wardrobe of scarves or shawls for yourself or as gifts. Make novel one-of-a-kind tunics, shifts or shells.  Design and create wall hangings, curtains or table runner.  Engage in a lively discussion about color theory with a small coterie of investigators.  All supplies provided.  Hosted, courteously, at the home of Kimberly Tomasaski.  Date and time to be determined by mutual consent.  Preliminary interview to ascertain individuals' scope and aspirations, to determine supplies, conducted by amateur dyer.  Your imagination is churning already!
