About Chris Fick
Chris Fick is a former professional baseball player who was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1994, as a free agent. Chris attended California Lutheran University where he earned a degree in Communications and was an All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player and received All Western Region Honors. In 1996, Chris was selected in the Rule 5 Minor League draft by the San Francisco Giants and played for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Chris’ professional career did not start until the age of 24, due to injuries. From the age of 18 to 23, Chris sustained two injuries, rotator cuff and ACL reconstruction. During his time out of baseball, Chris coached three years at Westlake High School and was a player coach at California Lutheran University. Chris’ playing career is something unique! It’s not about awards, stats or the glamour….it was Chris’ determination to overcome and persevere through those injuries and believing in his playing abilities. Chris has touched hundreds of player’s lives over his playing and coaching career. Chris’ experience as a professional player, coach at the college, high school and recreational league levels, truly sets him apart from most. Chris has an unbelievable way of building strong relationships and giving his students the knowledge and confidence to compete. The FICK name has become synonymous with baseball because Chris comes from a family of talented baseball players. His older brother, Chuck Fick, is a former professional player and current Professional Scout with the St. Louis Cardinals. Younger brother, Robert Fick, is a former Major Leaguer with 9 years at the Big League level. Nephews: Chuckie Fick, current pitcher for the Memphis Redbirds (AAA) and Brett Fick current student and player at UCSB.
My joy is coaching and making a positive impact on our youth and adult athlete’s! Baseball and Softball coaching, is about developing a player’s self-esteem and self-confidence. A Manager, Coach or Instructor has an opportunity to influence a player’s life, both on and off the field.
