About Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune is an American television game show created by Merv Griffin. Contestants compete to solve word puzzles, similar to those used in Hangman, to win cash and prizes determined by spinning a giant carnival wheel. The show originally aired from 1975 to 1991 as a network daytime program; the current nighttime syndicated version premiered on September 19, 1983.

About Pat Sajak

Pat Sajak is in his 30th year as host of Wheel of Fortune. He joined the series in 1981, when the show aired on network daytime television. The top-ranked syndicated version made its debut in 1983, with Sajak at the helm. Since then, he has earned three Emmy Awards, a People's Choice Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In June 2011, Sajak was honored again by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences when he was presented with the Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards Lifetime Achievement Award.

"I was very lucky in that I always knew that I wanted to be in broadcasting," says Sajak. "My early heroes were people like Arthur Godfrey, Dave Garroway, Steve Allen and, especially, Jack Paar. They helped shape what a television personality was, paving the way for so many others."

Sajak was born and raised in Chicago, where he broke into broadcasting as a newscaster and announcer at a small radio station. He joined the Army in 1968 and was sent to Vietnam. There, he spent a year-and-a-half with Armed Forces Radio in Saigon - and, like Robin Williams in the feature film of the same name, he started each day by shouting, "Good morning, Vietnam!"

Following his discharge, Sajak spent time at another small radio station in Murray, Ky. After a year, he decided to move to the nearest big city (Nashville) and enter the television business. Sajak was hired by WSM-TV as a staff announcer, eventually expanding his role to talk shows and weather reporting. There, he was spotted by a talent scout for KNBC-TV in Los Angeles and, in 1977, he joined that station as its weatherman.

Four years later, he was chosen by Wheel of Fortune's creator, Merv Griffin, to assume hosting duties on the series' network daytime edition. In 1983, the nighttime version of the show was launched, and it has been the top-rated syndicated television program ever since.

Sajak has guest-starred on dozens of comedy, drama, game and talk series and hosted his own talk shows on CBS and Fox News Channel. He currently heads his own production company, P.A.T. Productions and has amassed a half-dozen platinum records through his music publishing company. In addition, he owns two radio stations in Maryland; and creates and sells his own line of games through PatSajakGames.com.

Sajak splits his time between the East Coast and Los Angeles. He and his wife, Lesly, a photographer, have two children.

About Vanna White

Vanna White made her debut on Wheel of Fortune in 1982, as the first female co-host of a game show. She's established herself as a household name with a phenomenal following worldwide ever since.

As a much sought-after showcase for designer fashions, Vanna has worn over 5,400 outfits at the puzzle board. With so much fan interest in her attire, Vanna launched her official "Vanna Style" web page, which can be accessed via wheeloffortune.com.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honored Vanna with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in April 2006. The ceremony was celebrated by international press coverage, as well as her family and friends, including Pat Sajak, Alex Trebek and Merv Griffin.

In 1992, Vanna was recognized in "The Guinness Book of World Records" as "Television's Most Frequent Clapper." Averaging 720 claps per episode, she puts her hands together more than 28,000 times per season.

Vanna's autobiography, "Vanna Speaks," was a nationwide bestseller when published in 1987. She has also been featured on numerous magazine covers.

Vanna's passion for crocheting and helping children led to the launching of her own line of yarn called "Vanna's Choice." A portion of its proceeds is donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. In December 2010, the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank honored Vanna White with their "Making a Difference" award after Vanna and the Wheel of Fortune team volunteered at the food bank, alongside executives from Feeding America and Maxwell House, to help feed families in need.

Over the years, Vanna has made guest appearances as herself in numerous movies and television series, as well as appearing on countless talk shows.

Becoming a pop culture icon was not something Vanna expected while growing up in the small resort town of North Myrtle Beach, S.C. After attending the Atlanta School of Fashion Design and becoming one of the area's top models, she moved to Los Angeles with the goal of an acting career. Just two years later, while competing against more than 200 other hopefuls, Vanna's intelligence, all-American beauty, grace and exuberant personality won her the coveted spot as co-host of America's favorite game show.

Beyond her work on TV and her philanthropic efforts, Vanna spends her time on her favorite job being a mom to her two children, Nicholas and Giovanna. She is a strong believer in fitness and leads a healthy lifestyle, which includes spinning and yoga.
