A framed piece by p a i n t e r / p r i n t m a k e r /w r i t e r, C. A. Klimek.
I have been creating in one form or another since I was a child. It has been said that creating is a collaborative process between the artist and his or her soul; an intimate relationship in which both are continually transformed. For more than twenty-five years I have had the opportunity to focus full-time on my art; and, now it has become such an important part of who I am that it's a form of meditation...a process that helps me keep both feet on the ground: it is my medicine. It speaks directly to who and what I am, providing emotional stability and order. The shapes, as well as the color in my work represent the conscious and subconscious. Like the rings on a tree or the earth's strata, the layers are records of the experiences which define who we are. We are also defined by the boxes that others put us in and the boxes that we put ourselves in. By dissecting a piece of art – where shape represents the particular struggle at a point in time and color defines the intensity of the emotion, you can begin to understand the "abstraction" of my work.
