Description

"Come white water rafting with kindergarten and third grader dad, Marcus and his family!"

Marcus is a formally trained White Water Rafting guide and has been rafting for 24 years. He has been down 12 rivers on 3 continents, including a trip on a bamboo raft, gondola style in Thailand with his wife Miho, and a First Descent down a river in the Philippines.

This is a trip on the South Fork of the American River, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. Marcus has extensive experience on  the South Fork, leading over 100 trips down this river.

The "South Fork" is rated as a Class III/III+ river so you'll get wet from head to toe.

Trip date will be either Saturday, August 3rd or Sunday, August 4th. Winning bidder will schedule with Marcus at close of auction. The boat can hold the guide and up to 9 additional adults. Given children, group sizes of up to 8 adults and 4 children (ages 5 to 12) or, 7 adults and 5 children can be accommodated in addition to the guide.

As an option, there is a 5-mile point where some can get off, having experienced gentle Class I/II rafting as an introduction to this wonderful exploration of "The River." The remaining rafters will experience Class III/III+ rafting!

Parents/adults are responsible for determining which class of river is appropriate for their children.

NOTE:

1. This includes all rafting equipment, including life jackets, safety gear, river permits, etc. (Helmets not required.)

2. This will include camping fees for 1 night, which are typically $90-120/night/group. Camping the second night is highly encouraged, but not covered.

3. This auction does not include food while camping or rafting, and does not include camping supplies.

4. People typically come the night before the rafting trip, camp, raft the following day, and camp that night.

5. Rafters will arrange to meet Marcus and his family at Camp Lotus, in Lotus, CA (El Dorado County).

6. This trip is for either 9 miles, (4-5 hours) on the Chili Bar Run or 13 miles, (6-7) hours on The Gorge Run.

Special Instructions

 1. Rafters should bring: sunscreen, hats, windbreaker, and clothing that can get wet from head to toe! Some rafters choose to use a wet suit, opt for rain gear and some just shorts and a shirt. The water is cool but the weather is generally hot.

2. Although no special skills are required, you should be in generally good health and have no back problems. If you are pregnant, please consult your doctor.

3. Personal property and/or injury insurance is not included with this item.

4. Due to family obligations and camp site availability, this is the only time this trip can be offered. Changes in the dates are not possible.

5. Because Marcus and his family will be rafting all week, it is likely that the camping will be shared with either the group before or the group after. For this reason, Marcus has 2 campsites side by side which offer a fair amount of space and privacy.
