Description

Want to find out what transitioning from violin to viola is all about? Stella Anderson, will spend an hour with you exploring how violinists can add viola to their musical repertoire and open up additional performance opportunities, and even more scholarship options for college. Class time is set up directly with the instructor and at your mutual convenience.

Stella Anderson, a founding member of the Sartory String Quartet, is a native of Honolulu, Hawaii. She attended the University of Hawaii while performing with the Honolulu Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Anderson received her B.M.E. degree at Indiana University where she studied with William Primrose and David Dawson. After graduation, Ms. Anderson was the principal violist of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and Marion Symphony Orchestras. Since relocating to Minneapolis, Ms. Anderson has subbed with the Minnesota Orchestra and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, performed with VocalEssence (formerly Plymouth Music Series), and the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra. A past president of the Minnesota chapter of the American String Teachers Association and a recipient of the 1995 Master Teacher Award, she serves on the board of the Minnesota String and Orchestra Teachers Association and the Minnesota Youth Symphonies. Ms. Anderson also is the ensemble coordinator and coach for the Augsberg College Suzuki Talent Education program. Presently Ms. Anderson is the principal violist of Allegro Sinfonia and the president-elect of the newly-formed Minnesota Viola Society. During the summers Ms. Anderson spends a week with the Superior String Alliance Festival in the upper peninsula of Michigan as its principal violist.
