Description
Steel, stainless steel, wave-washed, Lake Superior rock sculpture.
From her Dragonfly Studio in Drummond, Wisconsin, Cuban born artist Sara Balbin combines steel, rock and flame to create images exploring the diversity of humankind within the natural environment.
In "Flowing Waters," Balbin's expression reveals the dynamic integration of humankind and nature. Passing through time and space, the elemental importance of water is shown in its movement across the touch of mankind. Marking time over countless generations past and to come, flowing waters are a life giving, healing and essential resource.
In the words of the artist, "My sculptural designs explore humanity's relationship to the environment. The creation of 'Flowing Waters' has allowed me to reflect natural elements and the human form in a unique, creative statement."
Balbin's large public sculptures are well known in the Cable area of Northwestern Wisconsin. Her smaller, more intimate, figurative steel expressions portray fluid motion, spiritual involvement and individual character.
