Description
Tim Wakefield, the 2010 Roberto Clemente Award winner, and the famous Looney Tunes characters are featured in Knuckled Under By Wakefield, a Warner Bros.' animation art limited edition personally signed by Tim and raising funds for one of Tim's charities, Pitching in for Kids. Wakefield, the first MLB pitcher to be featured in a Warner Bros.' animated limited edition, is well known throughout MLB and New England as one of the most charitable players both on and off the field.
Wakefield joins an elite group of sports legends including Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, Wayne Gretzky, Andre Agassi, Derek Jeter and Drew Brees, who have all been featured in a Warner Bros. Looney Tunes limited edition.
Knuckled Under by Wakefield combines the talent of ten Warner Bros.' artists and designers using the traditional hand-drawn and hand-painted process of animation, making this art truly exceptional. Ruth Clampett, the art director for Knuckled Under by Wakefield, is the daughter of the legendary Warner Bros. animation director Bob Clampett. The Warner Bros. characters were drawn by award-winning artist, Darrell Van Citters. The background was painted by world-renowned artist, Dennis Durrell. The billboard signs were designed and created by the master of character illustration, Kirk Mueller.
This numbered hand-painted cel limited edition is personally signed by Tim Wakefield, custom framed, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
Edition Size: 500, Image Size: 14" x 20", Frame Size: 21" x 27.5"
Hand-Painted Cels: The painters use the same hand-painting technique that was once used to create production cels for film and cartoons, but is now being used to create a commissioned image for a special limited edition. The animator's drawing is transferred onto an acetate celluloid (cel), and then each cel is meticulously hand-painted by studio artists. The limited edition cel is created for the express purpose of fine art and offers the collector the opportunity to acquire their favorite characters in ideal, memorable and special interest poses. They are generally signed and numbered by the artist and laid upon either a lithographic, photographic or giclee background.
