A View from the Bridge

This gripping Arthur Miller classic centers around longshoreman Eddie Carbone, a simple yet admirable man living in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge with his wife and his orphaned, teen-age niece, Catherine, whom they have raised from a young girl–and whom he loves, he thinks, as a daughter. When two of his wife's Italian cousins are smuggled into this country, he generously makes room for them in his home. But when one of the illegal immigrants–young and extraordinarily handsome–falls in love with Catherine, their romance forces Eddie to confront the fact that his own feelings for her are not simply paternal. As a monstrous change creeps up on the kind and loving uncle, the stage is set for tragedy.
